WEEK - 1 2024 - UNK Invite - Athletes of the Week Girls Field - Makenna Betty *** Congratulations to Junior, Makenna Betty, on her outstanding achievement in the 2024 Class A & B Championship High Jump, where she not only equaled her Personal Best effort of 5' 0" but also clinched her first championship win of her career in the high jump. Competing in a field featuring six girls with personal bests of 5' 0" or higher, Makenna's performance stood out, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination. This victory marks a significant milestone in her journey, and we look forward to seeing more of her in the future. Way to go, Makenna! Boys Field - Parker Hatch *** UNK Indoor track & field meet! Not only did Parker set a personal record in the triple jump with an impressive leap of 37-11.00, earning him an 8th place finish, but he also made history for Minden by achieving the best jump by a freshman in at least 15 years. His success in a field dominated by upperclassmen highlights his remarkable talent and determination. In addition to his individual achievement, Parker contributed to the team's success by running a strong leg in the 4x400m relay, helping secure a 5th place finish. This double feat showcases Parker's versatility and signals a promising future in track & field. Fantastic job, Parker! Girls Track - Alexa Warner *** Congratulations to Freshman Alexa Warner on her remarkable achievement at the UNK Indoor track & field meet, where she not only established a personal best time of 13:16.20 in the 3200m but also earned the championship in the Class A/B division. With this performance, Alexa set a new benchmark, achieving the fastest time by any freshman from Minden in the 3200m, both indoors and outdoors, in at least the last 15 years. This incredible feat is a testament to her dedication, talent, and hard work. Way to go, Alexa! Boys Track - Sam Cederburg *** Congratulations to Junior Sam Cederburg for an exceptional performance at the UNK Indoor track & field meet, where he not only defended his 3200m title in the Class A & B division but also set a new indoor personal best time of 10:33.46. Demonstrating remarkable endurance and skill, Sam doubled back to compete in the 1600m, securing a hard-fought 3rd place finish with a time of 4:53.04. A group of MHS Band/Choir/Art students spent the day at the SWC Fine Arts Festival in Holdrege! They spent the day working on music and attending art sessions. Special shoutout to Adalle Banzhaf-Diaz for having a solo with the choir, Minden art students for winning the mural competition, and Kinsie Land's artwork being selected as the best piece from Minden!

Alexa Warner - Champion - 3200m - 13:16.20 Jr. - Sam Cederburg - Champion - 3200m - 10:33.46 Meet Summary - PR are for Indoors GIRLS 60 Meter Dash (Prelims): Lauren Starkey (SO) placed 16th with a PR of 9.12 seconds. 200 Meters (Finals): Makenna Starkey (JR) finished 7th with a PR of 29.38 seconds, and Lauren Starkey (SO) also set a PR, finishing 17th. 400 Meters (Finals): Makenna Starkey (JR) secured 8th place with a PR of 1:07.31. 800 Meters (Finals): Ayleigh Porter (SR) finished 14th with a PR of 3:06.74. 3200 Meters (Finals): Alexa Warner (FR) won the event with a PR of 13:16.20. Shot Put (Finals): Addison Klabunde (JR) placed 10th with a PR throw of 31-00.00. Kate Boudreau (SR) and Carmin Gramke (JR) also set PRs, finishing 18th and 20th, respectively. Pole Vault (Finals): Koltdyn Heath (JR) achieved a PR of 10-06.00, finishing 16th. Long Jump (Finals): Bronson Glanzer (SR) and Logan Verbeck (FR) set PRs, finishing 15th and 20th, respectively.
